Paul Padilla Jr. (PJ)

Vocals

PJ brings a powerful male presence to Funkiphino’s vocal section. He effortlessly weaves through the group’s mix of musical genres as he sings and raps. PJ began singing as a small child. However, his fascination with rap music, rapping and the hip-hop genre began at age 12. At the same time, his passion for producing and audio engineering also began to develop. PJ has spent the majority of his adult career as a rapper/producer with Denver’s Fresh Breath Committee opening for some of the biggest Hip Hop acts coming through Colorado. The group won “Denver’s Best Hip-Hop Album” award in 2010, followed by 7 years of “Best Hip-Hop Group” nominations by Westword – being named a “Denver Music Icon” in 2014.

Going back to his roots, in 2013, Paul began focusing more on singing and production. He expanded into the Colorado funk-band scene and began singing with local bands like, Hip Pocket as well as singing and rapping with Hi-Phi Entertainment’s, OverSoul’d. After working with Hi-Phi Entertainment for several months, Paul was asked to be the male lead vocalist and rapper in Hi-Phi Entertainment’s production, Forever Dangerous: A Tribute to Michael Jackson.

When PJ is not on stage with Funkiphino, he spends his time as the co-owner of Mint Audio recording studio located in Denver’s Art District. The studio focuses on propagating up-and-coming artists and promoting the Colorado music scene. As a native Coloradan PJ enjoys Bronco football. Yet, his level of devotion for the Denver Broncos astounds even the most diehard fans.
